Organizers called it the worst weather they had ever had for the event, but the wet conditions didn’t stop the over 300 participants who took part in the 11th annual Relay for Life at the Centennial Park track. Thirty-one teams registered and braved the conditions at the event which ran from 7 p.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. The event started off with the traditional Survivors’ Lap featuring an ever-growing number of cancer survivors, followed this year by a new addition called the Caregivers Lap, to honuor the caregivers of cancer victims, and then the relay itself. A little under $100,000 was raised at this year’s event with the donations going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
