CUPlex progress forges ahead

Progress continues for the Credit Union CUPlex both on and off the construction site.

At council Monday, Parks and Recreation Director Keith Anderson noted the search for a general manager for the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts is well under way.

A total of 20 applications were received, said Anderson. There are candidates applying from British Columbia all the way to Ontario, including some local and regional candidates. The next step is to prepare a shortlist for interviews.

Substantial completion should be done by Dec. 20 for the building portion of the Dekker Centre, while Jan. 20 is the estimated time for substantial completion of the theatre portion.

In other news, a leak test on the main tank of the competition pool was done and it passed. Anderson told council now the final seal coat can be put on and tiling can be done. The roof is also starting to go on the field house, he reported.
