North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services were busy dealing with several separate incidents over the weekend, including three dumpster fires and a serious motor vehicle collision with extensive damage.
The incident involved two vehicles and happened at the corner of Territorial Drive and East Railway Avenue in North Battleford at around 11:15 a.m. Saturday. The occupants were checked over by EMS and released. RCMP were also on scene.
Fire crews were also called to put out three dumpster fires in the early morning hours Monday.
One was in the 1000 block of 109th Street. Five fire personnel were on the scene for 12 minutes to contain the blaze. The contents of the dumpster were fully involved, but there was no other damage.
Fire crews were soon called to a nearby fire on the 1100 block of 108th Street around 2:45 a.m. Again, two apparatus and five fire crews were called to the scene, with the dumpster fully involved. Once there, the department received a second call of another dumpster fire at the 1300 block of 108th Street, where the contents were ablaze.
Both of those fires were contained to the respective dumpsters.
Finally, the fire department responded to a fire alarm on the 1400 block of 101st Street Saturday, however it turned out to be an unintentional detector activation caused by cooking. There was no fire and no damage.
