NW students earn awards

Northwest students were among 724 honoured with awards by Lakeland College at ceremonies hosted at Lloydminster campus March 22 and Vermilion campus March 14.

Tammy Guenther of Sonningdale, studying in the esthetician program, earned a Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship.

Waseca’s Morgan Thomarat, studying environmental sciences, also received a Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship.

Interior design technology student, Shelby Nichol of Livelong, earned a Staedtler North America Award.

The spring awards distributed a total of $689,421 in scholarships. Last fall, an additional $38,500 was awarded to another 81 students through Lakeland College’s bursary program which supports students in high financial need. These amounts bring the total amount of student bursaries, awards and scholarships distributed to $733,421 to 814 recipients for the 2011-12 academic year.
