140-plus vehicles on display at Radisson Show and Shine

Radisson held their annual show and shine July 26, and the day was perfect for the show. This was their largest show held, with more than 140 cars, trucks, tractors and bikes on display on both sides of Main Street, covering two blocks.

There were also 25 vintage snowmobiles on hand with many of them from Alberta. Winning the trophy for the snowmobiles travelling the farthest were Dwayne and Kelly Grant of Calgary, Alta.

Winning plaques for the vehicles were: 1920-29, Bob Boun of Saskatoon with a ‘28 Ford Coupe; 1930-39, Jerry Reimer of Saskatoon with his ‘33 Ford 3 window coupe; 1940-49, the ‘49 Ford F47 truck of Floyd Holland of Saskatoon; 1950-59, Bill Wilson of Saskatoon with his ‘50 Ford Coupe; and 1960-69, Jess Hogg of Dundurn got the nod for his ‘64 Dodge Polara 440.

For 1970-79, a ‘70 road runner brought in by Al Kirschgessner of Saskatoon won. For 1980-89, Peter Wall of Langham won with his ‘88 Monte Carlo SS. For 1990- 99, Lucian Roy of Saskatoon won with his ‘96 Z28, and for 2000-plus, Nick Keet of Langham won with his 2000 Prowler.

Best custom vehicle was a ‘32 Ford Roadster brought in by Gerald Daviduke of Saskatoon. Best convertible was a ‘62 Nova belonging to Tammy Wilson of Saskatoon. Best truck was a ‘57 GMC 9300 belonging to Herschel Smith of Elrose. Best tractor was a ‘46 Farmall H owned by Daryl Amey of Radisson. Best import was a ‘74 MGB convertible owned by Gary Dalton of Saskatoon.

The top special interest vehicle was a ‘47 International Hot Rod owned by Rob Stinson of Saskatoon. Best bike was a 2015 homebuilt motorbike belonging to Donald Shawchuk of Perdue. Best racing vehicle was a 2014 Ford Pro truck owned by Vern Gwinn of Saskatoon.

Travelling the farthest was Ron Bohn of Lloydminister with his ‘56 Chev Belair.

Some young boys that brought in older bikes each received a matchbox toy.

Playing music for the afternoon was William and the Shadows, and there were food booths set up by the communiplex. The library had a book sale.

The show and shine main draw had Jack Yuskiw winning the 2HP air compressor, Willy Robertson a 100 quart roller cooler and a handheld gas leaf blower went to Russell Schultz.

Riverbend and District Chamber of Commerce draws went to Andrew Ruzesky, patio lights; Blair Kerluke, ladder game; Vi Kyluik, t-shirts; and Scott Curry, Rider hat and t-shirt.

There were 45 prizes donated by many businesses with the main one of a fire pit going to Ralph Soufman, $50 credit union gift certificate to Rick Hause, $100 cash to Sue Laflamme, who also won two other prizes; weed trimmer to Glenn Patterson, who won two more prizes. The David Ruzesky family took home five prizes.
