Early morning structure fire in North Battleford

An investigation is under way into an early-morning structure fire on the 1400 block of 104th Street in North Battleford. North Battleford Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 4 am Sunday, Jan. 29.

An investigation is under way into an early-morning structure fire on the 1400 block of 104th Street in North Battleford.

North Battleford Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 4 am Sunday, Jan. 29.

According to their news release, crew found a fully involved structure. A second and third alarm was initiated and assistance from Battleford Fire Department was requested.  

A total of 18 firefighters from both fire departments were on the scene, and the equipment on the scene included three engines, one utility, utility vehicle and one command unit. Fire crews worked for five hours to bring the blaze under control.

Also on scene were the RCMP, municipal enforcement, WPD, SaskPower and SaskEnergy.

There were no civilian injuries, but two firefighters — one from Battleford and one from North Battleford Fire Department — were taken to hospital, treated for non-life-threating injuries and released.

The cause is still under investigation and estimated amount of damage is unknown at this time. Further updates will follow next week.
