North Battleford’s Andrew Albers is officially returning to North America to play baseball.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Twitter Friday that they have signed the left-handed pitcher to a minor league contract.

Albers will also take part in the Blue Jays’ major league spring training in Florida, according to the team.

While the news puts Albers with a Canadian-based organization, the Jays’ AAA affiliate in Buffalo appears to be his most likely landing spot for 2015. Albers previously played in the International League in 2013 with the Rochester Red Wings.

Albers’ previous major league contract was with the Minnesota Twins. He was called up to the Twins during the 2013 season where he had a major league record of two wins and five losses and an ERA of 4.05.

Albers spent the 2014 season playing professional baseball with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean league, where his record was 6-13 and his ERA was 5.89.
