The Battleford Fire Department is looking for more volunteer firefighters.
Eligible volunteers must live in Battleford, and must be physically fit in order to pass a medical. Training is in-house, and every Monday the fire department has organized training sessions.
Mayor Ames Leslie said training time and on-call time is compensated, along with time at a scene or responding to a call. The volunteer fire department covers the town, the RM of Battle River, and a large area around Delmas, Wilkie, and Red Pheasant and Sweetgrass First Nations.
“If you’re 18 or 55 and want to give back to your community, it’s a great way to come down and be part of the town,” Leslie said.
