A prominent Saskatchewan journalist who was in Battleford for the past week covering the Gerald Stanley murder trial has passed away.

A prominent Saskatchewan journalist who was in Battleford for the past week covering the Gerald Stanley murder trial has passed away.

Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation announced that longtime Saskatchewan broadcast journalist Manfred Joehnck has died suddenly at the age of 64.

Before going to MBC, Joehnck had been news anchor at CTV Regina from 2001 to 2011, and was previously at CKRM.

MBC Radio said in a statement that Joehnck was in the Battlefords at the time of his death; the cause has not been announced.
