The Liberals are planning a North Battleford event Thursday night featuring none other than the Prime Minister of Canada.

Justin Trudeau is scheduled to be the headline attraction at an event at Dekker Centre from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 7. The event is entitled “Real Change at Work: Meet Justin Trudeau and Larry Ingram.”

Trudeau’s visit to the Battlefords was confirmed by candidate Ingram at his Facebook page, who stated, “I am thrilled to welcome Justin Trudeau to Battlefords-Lloydminster on Thursday. Let’s give him a warm Saskatchewan welcome!”

The event is designed as a Meet and Greet in advance of the by-election in Battlefords-Lloydminster on Dec. 11. Attendance is limited to a first-come, first-served basis, with people being encouraged to RSVP in advance at Ingram’s campaign Facebook page.

The news has already prompted a reaction from the local Battlefords-Lloydminster NDP. On their Facebook page they dismissed the event as “a misguided attempt to convince people here that they should vote for the Liberal Party of Canada. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”
