Achievements honoured at grad undergrad ceremonies

The graduating class began their festivities with their awards banquet June 26. The meal was held at the Edam Community Centre and was catered by Mim's Catering of Edam.

The graduating class of 2013 from H. Hardcastle School are: standing - Shanae Blaquiere, Joel Blaquiere, Denzil McCaffrey, Philippe Hamel, Damon Schaefer, Jesse Blais, Owen LaClare, Marc LaClare, Caleb Greening, Alex Corbeil, Hunter Beynon and Kelcey McCarthy; seated - Brooke Roach, Emma Head, Henri L'Heureux, Danielle Corbeil and Brandi Kobes.

The graduating class began their festivities with their awards banquet June 26. The meal was held at the Edam Community Centre and was catered by Mim's Catering of Edam.

Masters of ceremonies, Kaitlyn McCarthy and Jared Blaquiere, called upon Lynnette LaClare to say the blessing. Following the meal, Damon Schaefer and Kelcey McCarthy were called upon to give the toast to the teachers to which Mr. Trevor Gateley replied. Hunter Beynon and Henri L'Heureux then came to the podium to give the toast to the parents and Blair Beynon replied. This was followed by Caleb Greening and Joel Blaquiere giving the toast to the girls and Shanae Blaquiere and Brooke Roach toasting the boys of the class of 2013. The evening was rounded out with Mr. Michael Lee and Mr. Darren Nordell officiating over the awards presentations.

The graduation ceremonies took place June 28, at the gym of H. Hardcastle School. Master of ceremonies was Mikayla Detillieux, alumni of HHS and friend of the graduating class. The graduates and their escorts entered the gym to It's Time by Imagine Dragons. Brooke Roach sang the national anthem with Brandi Kobes following with the welcoming address. Introductions of the grads then took place during the Grade 12 slide show. Following the slide show, Kelcey McCarthy was called upon to give the valedictory address.

The summarization of the banquet awards and presentation of scholarships by Mr. Darren Nordell and Mr. Michael Lee was next on the program. Board member Janice Baillargeon was on hand to present the Turtleford School Division multiple intelligence awards of $400 (TSDMI). Following the presentation of the scrolls by Mr. Nordell and Mr. Lee, Emma Head was called upon to give the acknowledgements.

The ceremonies came to a close when the graduates presented blue roses to their mothers as they exited the gym to You Make My Dreams by Hall and Oates. After the chairs were cleared, the graduates re-entered the gym for the grand march and a dance with their escorts and parents. This brought the official part of the day to an end.

Joel Blaquiere, escorting Marcie Beaulac, son of Roger and Lisa Blaquiere. Awards: honour roll, TSDMI (athletic excellence - $200) CUPR scholarship ($500). Future plans: power engineering at NAIT, Edmonton, Alta.

Shanae Blaquiere; escorted by Arlee Walde, daughter of Gilbert and Barb Blaquiere. Awards: honour roll, general proficiency ($300 - shared), history 30, workplace & apprenticeship 30, school spirit, TSDMI (Fine Arts - $400), general achievement (shared), Abe Wouters community service scholarship ($500), Stellar Insurance scholarship ($250), Nick Roach Memorial Scholarship ($500), Innovation Credit Union scholarship ($1,000). Future plans: writing and communications at University of Winnipeg, Man.

Caleb Greening, escorting Rebecca Kobes, son of Kenny and Charlotte Greening. Awards: merit roll, H. Hardcastle School Community Council (most improved from Grades 9-12). Future plans: welding at Lakeland College, Vermilion, Alta.

Philippe Hamel, escorting Shaylyn McConnell, son of Roland Hamel and Connie Hamel. Future plans: joining the workforce.

Emma Head, escorted by Brent Kobes, daughter of Henry and Lois Head. Awards: honour roll, chemistry 30 (shared), Edam Health Care Auxiliary scholarship ($200). Future plans: dental hygiene at SIAST, Regina.

Brandi Kobes, escorted by Damon Schaefer, daughter of Dwayne Kobes and Lana Stark. Awards: honour roll, RCMP award, foundations math 30 (shared), TSDMI (citizenship - $400), Access Communications award ($200). Future plans: social justice at Live Different Academy, Hamilton, Ont.

Marc LaClare, escorting Keinyn Nordell, son of Bernard and Lynette LaClare. Awards: merit roll, industrial arts, Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Award ($1,000). Future plans: millwright at SIAST, Saskatoon.

Owen LaClare, escorting Bailey Delainey, son of Maurice and Diane LaClare. Future plans: continuing his junior hockey career in La Ronge.

Henri L'Heureux, escorting Kenzy Klippenstein, son of Gilbert and Marnie L'Heureux. Awards: honour roll. Future plans: work at L & M Wood Products, Glaslyn.

Denzil McCaffrey, escorting Miranda Moline, son of Danny and Karen McCaffrey. Future plans: environmental science at Lakeland College, Vermillion, Alta.

Kelcey McCarthy; escorted by Hunter Beynon, daughter of Darrell and Debbie McCarthy. Brooke Roach, escorted by Cody Cadrain, daughter of John and Michelle Roach. Awards: honour roll, foundations math 30, Nick Roach memorial scholarship ($500). Future plans: music/ business bachelor of arts at University of Alberta, Augustana Campus.

Damon Schaefer, escorting Brandi Kobes, son of Darin and Terra Schaefer. Awards: merit roll, senior athletic (male), Edam Fall Fair scholarship ($500). Future plans: College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan.

Matthew Turner, son of Leanne Turner and Art Lavallee. Future plans: joining the workforce.

Other awards given out during the graduation ceremonies were chemistry 30 to Grade 11 student Madison Detillieux and the Governor General Award and Lawrence and Madge Severson award to Bailey Delainey of the class of 2012 and a TSDMI (PAA - $400) shared between Kaitlyn McCarthy and ShaeLynn Nedelec.

The undergrad awards were held in the school gym, June 18. The following awards were given to some deserving students: girls' athletic - Payton Morin and Taya Cole; boys' athletic - Tyson Long and Mason Blais; home economics award - ShaeLynn Nedelec; spirit of drama - Jessica Bec.

General proficiency with $150 went to Grade 9 - Mason Blais, Grade 10 - Brittany Bec and Grade 11 - Jessica Bec. SCC academic scholarships of $150 were won by Grade 9 - Mason Blais, Grade 10 - Brittany Bec and Grade 11 - Jessica Bec. General proficiency awards for Division III girls was won by Payton Morin and for Division III boys by Mason Blais and Zachary Gordon.

Honour and merit rolls were presented at this time as well.

Grade 7 honour - Blake Blais, Macey Levasseur, Ty Mosimann, Natasha Nedelec and Andrew Seipp. Grade 7 merit - Raina Cole, Sabrina Froese and Jamie Millard.

Grade 8 honour - Ryan Becotte, Lindon Goodall, Jared Greening, Kieran McConnell, Brittany Nedelec and Kesha Schaefer. Grade 8 merit - Dawson Malenfant.

Grade 9 honour - Cordell Beynon, Mason Blais, Taya Cole, Jetta Derenoski, Mason Detillieux, Zachary Gordon, Tyson Long, Bailey Morin, Payton Morin, Kade Mosimann, Tayla Poole and Jonathon Seipp. Grade 9 merit - Travis Burgess, Jayden Manastyrski, Melissa Monteith, Brandon Nash, Jolene Nedelec and Jensen White.

Grade 10 honour - Brittany Bec, Dallon Becotte, Jesse Cadrain, Chelsea Hamel, Shyla Hamel, Wyatt Malenfant, Kalie Nordell and Kennedy Schaefer. Grade 10 merit - Breanna Wouters.

Grade 11 honour - Jessica Bec, Jessica Cadrain, Reed Delainey, Tristan Derenoski, Madison Detillieux, Brent Kobes, Kaitlyn McCarthy, ShaeLynn Nedelec, Keinyn Nordell, Hailey Shewchuk and Austin White. Grade 11 merit - Eric Esquirol, Zachary Nedelec and Thomas Seipp.

Congratulations to the Class of 2013 and all the best in your futures. Also congratulations to the undergrads on their accomplishments.
