Norman Carter's Scholastic Book Fair wrapped up March 26. The original schedule for the book fair was Wednesday, March 20 - Friday, March 22 however, with the atrocious weather that blasted our region, it was extended to the following Tuesday.

The doors were open from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. March 20 and then shortened to 9 a.m. - 4p.m. for the remainder of the days. Unfortunately the weather did impact attendance but, says librarian Roxanne Greenwald, "business was booming on Monday and Tuesday," which helped lead to a positive gain of approximately $1,250 from the book sales.

A lucky Grade 3 student won the $25 draw, earning their classroom $25 in books as well.

Greenwald, who resides in Unity, missed part of the fair, leaving for home shortly after the start of the storm Wednesday afternoon. After hearing the highway between Wilkie and Unity would be closing, she wanted to ensure she made it home safely to her family. She then returned Friday afternoon to many excited students.

Laurie Henderson stepped in and ran the book fair while Greenwald was storm-stayed at home, and Greenwald would like to send a huge thank you to her for all of her help.

Even with all of the extra commotion that surrounded the last couple of weeks, the book fair was still a success. Greenwald would also like to "thank all the families for supporting the book fair every year so we can acquire new books for the school library."
