A byelection will be held Nov. 27 to elect a new councillor for Division 4 in the RM of Manitou Lake No. 442. The two candidates are Kevin Bossert and Rick Swanstrom. Advance polling will be held Nov. 22 at the Marsden Seniors' Centre.
The Neilburg Seniors' Association held their monthly games day Nov. 4. Attendance was down due to the snowy weather but shuffleboard was still played. Edith Christensen and Mabel Scoular teamed up to win the first event and Vonnie Rutherford and Les Christensen won the second event. Carl Cammidge won the raffle that was a gift certificate. There will not be a games day in December due to the Christmas party that is planned. The next games day will be Monday, Jan. 6.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Elizabeth Ellen "Beth" Jones, who passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, Alta. Oct. 23 at the age of 96 years. Beth was a long time former resident of the Marsden area. Her funeral was Oct. 30 from the McCaw Funeral Chapel. A reception was held after the service at Knox Presbyterian Church in Lloydminster. The interment was held later at Wycollar Cemetery, near Marsden.
