Cross-country and volleyball teams practising hard already

Borden School teachers and staff are back, hard at work designing learning goals, working on learning portfolios and thinking about how to achieve their mission of "Achieving Success Together." The only change is that Grade 2-4 teacher Ms.

Borden School teachers and staff are back, hard at work designing learning goals, working on learning portfolios and thinking about how to achieve their mission of "Achieving Success Together."

The only change is that Grade 2-4 teacher Ms. Leonew was married over the summer and is now Mrs. Doratti. In the Grade 5 and 6 room, interning with Baylee Gabora until Christmas, is Ms. Christina Vellacott.

The cross-country runners are practising, getting ready for their meet at Delisle Sept. 24, and the Borden Bruins junior girls', senior girls' and senior boys' volleyball teams are also busily practising.

The senior girls played in Colonsay Sept. 6, winning some and losing some and placing fourth. The senior girls have a tournament at home Sept. 27, go to Hafford Oct. 4 and Maymont Nov. 1. Conferences are Nov. 8.

The senior boys go to Rosthern Sept. 19/20, Hepburn Sept. 26/27, Colonsay Oct. 3/4, Langham Oct 17/18, Dalmeny Oct. 24/25, Bellevue Nov. 1 and stay at home Nov. 8 with playoffs Nov. 15 and 22.

Kindergarten orientation is Sept. 11 and classes start Sept. 15.

The Borden School Community Council needs more members and is appealing to the community for more members. They only have four at present and need more. Because of the small group they will not be putting on the annual trade show in September. Contact Principal Dean Broughton if you are interested and wish to learn more about the SCC.

Borden Lakeland Library is changing hours as of Sept. 10. The library will be open Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Getting underway this upcoming week is Borden Light Horse 4-H Club registration Sept. 11 at Alana Gunch's, Busy Bees Preschool registration for three- and four-year-olds with Kendall Redhead as teacher Sept. 11, Busy Bee Preschool golf tournament Sept. 13 and preschool classes start Sept. 25. Kendall Redhead is taking names to start the fall league in bowling Sept. 22 and the Borden Dance Club registration night is Sept. 8 with classes starting Sept. 15.

Barry Hvidston, the RM of Great Bend and Village of Borden administrator, has resigned as of Sept. 1. Taking over as the RM administrator is Valerie Fendelet of Speers, who had been the assistant administrator. The Village of Borden will be looking for a new administrator.
