OK, here I go - late getting some of the news to you.

The Grade 4, 5 and 6 classes held their first ever heritage fair. The students picked projects from the five different categories: famous people and sports and recreation; businesses; school districts and communities; public service and government; families.

The students did a lot of research within the community with several of the seniors in the community coming into the school to lend a hand. The students would like to thank the following for sharing their knowledge of the area: Sam Cole, Doris Forsythe, Simone McCaffrey, Barb Johnson, Frank Poole, Vicki Morin, Hugette MacGregor, Betty Kujawa, Jean Arnott, Bob Cole, Elaine Cole, Tommy Terpstra, Gloria Smith, Herb Troesch, Larry LaClare and Larry McDaid.

Mrs. Gordon and the students would also like to thank the judges who had a very difficult job picking the winners: Louise Baillargeon, Cherelle Cadrain, Joanne McCaffrey, Jenna Morin, June McCaffrey, Larry LaClare, Janice Baillargeon, Therese Gaudet, Suzanne Bellanger, Darrel Newton, Paul Young-Brewster, Judy Thom, Andrea Thom, Elaine Wouters and Shanae Blaquiere.

Now for the winners. Families category, first went to Candace Greening (Greening family) and second to Jade Cole and Brady Deobald (Cole family). In the famous people category, first went to Isaiah Morin (Edam Three Stars) and second to Blake Blais (Edam Indoor Rodeo). For businesses, first to Ty Mosimann (Edam Credit Union Limited), second to Jaxon Harty (past businesses of Edam). The school districts and communities category was won by Hunter Goodall (Blackfoot and Minnehaha) and second went to Brooke Bonsan (St. Cyril/Nadon School). In the public service/government category, Anthony Seipp (Edam Fire Department) was first and Danika Holloway (Christ the King Catholic Church) second.

For anyone who would like to view the students' projects, you still have a chance as they will be on display during the centennial celebration being held in the community June 30 and July 1.

The Grade 7 students along with their teacher, Patti Formanek (representative of the Northwest Teachers Association), read and presented free books to the kindergarten students of HHS, May 30. All students enjoyed the time that they spent together and once the reading was done, puzzles were the next item on the agenda for the class. Thanks goes out to the NWTA for the gift as well as the support for the kindergarten students as they begin their school career.
