Mayor honoured with medal

Meota's mayor John MacDonald has been given the honour of receiving the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. MacDonald received this award Nov. 30 in recognition of his 31 and a half years of service and dedication to the Saskatoon Police Association, while a member of the Saskatoon Police service.

The medal is manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint to honour the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's ascension to the throne.

MacDonald was born in Dodsland in 1948 and joined the Saskatoon Police Force in 1968. While there he served in a number of positions retiring with the rank of staff sergeant where he had a platoon of 50 men and women in his command. MacDonald has completed one full term as mayor of Meota and is now in his second term in that office serving the residents of Meota.
