The North Battleford Seniors Centre was abuzz this month as members gathered to participate in several activities. On April 3 an open Kaiser tournament was held with 28 people attending. Congratulations to Helen Hunt who is the Kaiser champion for 2013. Second place went to Ellen Glubrecht, third to Eileen Kerslake, fourth to Howard Weitzel and fifth place to Yvonne MacPherson.

On the evening of April 5, another Kaiser tournament was held with 18 people participating, including two ladies from Saskatoon who happened to be in North Battleford for the night and were looking for something to do. We were very pleased to have them join us and welcome others to do likewise. Winners that evening were Doug Leite, Jim Beattie and Mary Dyck. Mary also won the door prize and she and Doreen Hagen got the prize for eleven no trump.

A potluck luncheon was held April 10 honouring members who were celebrating their birthdays in March and April with one member, Agnes Lucarz, receiving an honorary life membership. Thanks to hostess Marg Piper and the ladies who helped in her kitchen. It was enjoyed by all. The remaining afternoon was spent playing cards and visiting.

A Cribbage tournament was held April 19. Congratulations to Tom Muttall who is the Cribbage champion for 2013. Second place went to Margaret Fedun, third was Mary Dyck and forth place went to Ethel Boskill.

The centre is open Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 1 to 5 p.m. with Canasta being played on Mondays and Thursdays, Bridge on Tuesdays, Kaiser on Wednesdays and Cribbage on Fridays. There is a charge of $2 for the afternoon of cards which includes coffee, tea and lunch. Seniors 50 plus are welcome to join us. If they wish to come regularly the membership fee is $5 per year.
