Well if that was Indian Summer, we’ve had it! We usually hope to have a nice day for Halloween, but usually that is the day the snow arrives. This year it was a great evening for the kids … and then it came. November has brought the snow early.

Most of the combining is completed but several farmers could have used just a few more days to put the wraps on it for the season.

Oct. 24, an election was held for Division 4 in the Rural Municipality of Round Hill. The contest was between incumbent, Marlene Martens and Cameron MacDonald. When the votes were counted the results were Cameron MacDonald 66 and Marlene Martens 27. Congratulations to Cam and a big thank you for the time and effort that Marlene put into her time as councillor.

It is good to hear that Dwayne Haryung and Layne Petersen are on the mend. Being laid up is never fun but this has to be the best time of the year to be confined to quarters. Get better soon wishes go out to Jim Tomkins who is also recovering.

Nov. 2 was not a good day for the Lloyd Stacey family of Saskatoon. For the last number of years they have enjoyed their cottage on the lake front at Meeting Lake Regional Park. Unfortunately, that cabin burned to the ground. Cabins on each side were saved with the power pole and some spruce trees being the only other casualties. Hopefully the Staceys will rebuild.

Nov. 3, the Rabbit Lake Community Hall Board put on a turkey and ham dabber bingo. About 40 people came to play. It was fun and the hall board appreciates the support. The roof of the hall is looking pretty fancy with its new tin. Hopefully we can do the north side in the spring.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice. This was the ending of the war that was to end all wars. The Royal Canadian Legion is encouraging communities to ring church bells 100 times at sunset on Nov. 11. This year the Rabbit Lake Museum Board will be holding a brief Nov. 11 service and bell ringing at the museum church. The service begins at 4:45 p.m. with the bell ringing at 5 p.m. People are encouraged to attend. Please dress warmly as the church is not heated. After the brief service we will meet at the Rabbit Lake Senior Sunrise Circle for a short program and coffee.

Nov. 17, the Sandwith Community Hall will be hosting a turkey bingo, silent auction and potluck supper at the Sandwith Hall. The supper begins at 6 p.m. and the bingo and auction begin at 7 p.m.

Nov. 18, the Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Church will be holding its annual mission service at the Rabbit Lake Community Hall at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rick Boldt from Canada Food Grains Bank. Everyone is more than welcome to attend.

Congratulations to Brayden and Brandtsen Moore on winning the October treat of the month sponsored by the Rabbit Lake Library.

Quilting began Nov. 5, but check with Lynn at the library to see if you can still join in. This is a Monday evening endeavour for the winter months.
