The Speers and District United Church held their 18th annual dinner theatre April 15-17. The Friday and Saturday performances were in the evening and Sunday was a dinner and matinee. All three were sold out performances.

This year, the play was A Little Piece of Heaven by Matthew Caulin. The show was a comedy/drama and revolved around Henry and Elizabeth (Rob Jones and Nancy Roth), mysterious owners of the Old Curiosity Shop, who seem to have exactly what their customers are looking for.

A biker, Michael (Peter Derbawka), and an elderly lady, Lily (Diane Jones), strike up an unusual friendship after Michael is hired to work in the store. In the end, they both find what they are looking for.

There was a cast of 16, with other cast members being: Evangie Michalenko as Judith, Blair Jackson as Jared Havens, Wendy Verity as Gloria Havens; Gordon Moore as Gordon Theissen, Lisa Moore as Janet Thiessen; Lucas and Kendra Lafreneier as a boy and girl; Ray Prysliak as Herb, Jeremy Verity as Sam; and Colleen Wicks as Deb.

The play was directed by Linda Paulow with lighting, sound and music by Russ Mcnutt. Set decorations were by Rob Jones and Lisa and Gordon Moore.

A delicious roast beef meal was served before every performance. At intermission, raffle prizes were drawn for.
