A Rivers' Edge Quilters' workshop, "hidden wells," which was taught by Sandy Cook from Saskatoon, was enjoyed by 11 members.

Sandy taught a technique of making a quilt block and producing a surprise set of hidden wells in the block pattern. It was interesting to see each member with a very different look to their completed blocks, which varied only by their choice of fabric colors. These members have been busy sewing since the workshop Oct. 19. Congratulations Heather, who had her quilt top completed in two weeks and ready to hang at our meeting. She commented that she "was addicted to sewing this pattern."

The guild's quilt exhibition at the Chapel Gallery will be Nov. 6 to Dec. 15. All members were encouraged to participate. There will be a reception evening on Nov. 15, with a trunk show by Arlyce Thompson from Quilters Haven Quilt Shop in Moose Jaw. Everyone is invited to attend.

Arlyce will be teaching a two-day workshop Nov 15 and 16. She will be sharing ideas on the effective and creative use of quilt panels.

Plans are in progress for an out-of-town retreat in November.

Thanks to all the members who shared their quilts and quilted pieces to hang at our meeting. A lovely, inspirational show and tell followed the meeting. A big thank you to members who donated comfort quilts and walker bags which will be distributed prior to Christmas.

Photo of Sandy Cook and her quilt will be forwarded also.

Sandy gave us permission to use her name and photo.
