A book by a local author from the Battlefords has earned international honours from the 2019 Independent Publisher Book Awards.
That is Not Me: A Journey of Perception, by L. J. (Linda) Nelson, took a silver medal for Best Regional Non-fiction: Canada West.
The book was published in 2018. It is an autobiographical book in which Nelson, who has worked as a teacher in the education field, describes her experiences as a Little Person diagnosed with the rare condition of Achondroplasia.
According to her promotional materials, “That is Not Meis a testament to tenacity. It is a story about choices, change, enlightenment and, above all, encouragement.”
