The Living Sky School Division held its Student Hall of Fame event June 13, with more than 1,000 people witnessing the induction of 487 high school students from across the division.
The annual event celebrates students' high achievements in arts and culture, academics, leadership, special projects and sports.The Honourable Russ Marchuk, minister of education, was the guest speaker.
There was a "warm, wonderful hum in this room," said Marchuk of the gathering at the Battleford arena.
While not all were able to attend, the names of the 487 students were read out and they were invited on to the stage to be recognized, and to receive congratulations from the minister and school board members.
Special recognition went to students who achieved an academic average of 95 per cent or higher. They were: Adam Wallace, Jonathan Neigum, Kezia Tyagi, Megan Babchuk and Zoher Rafid-Hamed of Unity Compositie High School; Danielle Murphy, Hayden Kissick and Roy Wong of Kerrobert Composite School; Kristen Mitzel of Luseland School; Haley Wagar, Mackenzi Steinhubel and Miranda Gartner of Macklin School; Kaitlyn Brewer and Lauren Iverson of Spiritwood High School; Allison Cey, Chelsea Gruber, Rachel Mamer and Sean Fenrich of McLurg High School in Wilkie; Chandra Gatzke and Wyatt Moore of Medstead Central School; Emily Jackson, Katrina Turnbull, Keltye-Rae Blais and Taylor Raiche of North Battleford Comprehensive High School; Kelsey Fouhy of Maymont Central School; Janelle Crawford and Nicole Klippenstein of Heritage Christian School; and Megan Jones of Hafford Central School.
