A Lac La Ronge woman charged with impaired driving causing death was scheduled to elect how she wants to be tried but the matter was adjourned.

Sandra Halkett, 24, had an appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court July 6. She was released on bail on June 18 after turning herself in to police on June 15.

La Ronge RCMP said they found an unconscious man with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle just after midnight on June 14. EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene on Queen Street in Lac La Ronge First Nation.

Police were investigating the incident when they got a call from a woman saying she hit someone while driving on Queen Street. Police went to her home and found her truck in the driveway with visible front-end damage. Halkett was arrested without incident.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Reconstruction team examined the scene where the man was hit by the vehicle.

The case against Halkett was adjourned in La Ronge Provincial Court until July 27.
