Cranes and power shovels from several Weyburn and area contractors worked on cleaning up a derailment of some 25 rail cars on Wednesday morning near Halbrite. The derailment occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 7, when a CP freight train derailed empty intermodal containers southeast of Weyburn.There were no injuries to the crew, and there are no public safety concerns.After all repairs and necessary safety checks, the rail line re-opened to traffic on July 8. The incident is under investigation. Traffic on Highway 39 was down to one lane for a time, and then was open on two lanes but with caution required as a lot of heavy equipment and trucks were active in the area of the derailment.
