A Bear Creek man charged with second-degree murder consented to be remanded in custody.

Bartholomew Herman, 45, had an appearance scheduled in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on June 17 in connection to the March 22, 2002, death of 28-year-old Ty Armand Lemaigre.

RCMP found Lemaigre with serious wounds after they responded to a call about a disturbance at a home in Dillon, Sask. They also found a second man with serious injuries. Police and EMS tried to save Lemaigre but he died at the house. The second man was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later transported to a Saskatoon hospital. Police say they aren’t looking for any more suspects.

North Battleford RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime North assisted in the investigation.

Dillon is about 282 kilometres north of Prince Albert and is part of the Buffalo River Dene First Nations Band.

Herman is now scheduled to appear in La Loche Circuit Court on July 15 to speak to the matter.
