Attempted ATM theft fails

RCMP seek three men

An ATM in the town of Macklin was the target of thieves Jan. 27, according to Unity RCMP.

Police say three masked individuals entered the business housing the ATM by forcing the front door.

Once inside the men attempted to break into the ATM using a variety of tools that they had brought with them. The perpetrators were unable to break into the ATM or to steal its contents, RCMP report.

Unity RCMP used the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network that morning to share information on the vehicle involved in the crime — a newer white Dodge 2500 or 3500 crew-cab that may have had a slip tank in the back. Police say they believe the vehicle fled south of Macklin, although it had initially left to the north.

Unity RCMP advise that the incident occurred just before 5 a.m. and the subjects were seen by Macklin area residents heading to work.

The Unity RCMP are asking that anyone with information about this offence or the identity of the suspects contact the Unity RCMP at 306-228-6300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
