Battlefords RCMP discover human remains

At 11 a.m. Friday, RCMP Saskatchewan Media issued a release that the North Battleford RCMP and RCMP Major Crime Unit discovered human remains during a search.

On July 11, North Battleford RCMP and the RCMP Major Crime Unit were conducting a ground search in a rural area outside of North Battleford in relation to an ongoing investigation, stated the release. During the search, a police dog with the North Battleford RCMP Police Dog Services Unit discovered human remains.

A forensic autopsy must be completed before the remains can be identified. The autopsy will be conducted next week by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The RCMP release said, “We are committed to providing updates as soon as they become available.”
