A Bear Creek man charged with murder had his first court appearance in La Loche Provincial Court June 1.

Bartholomew Herman, 45, is charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of 28-year-old Ty Armand Lemaigre.

According to RCMP, Lemaigre was found with serious injuries after they were called to a disturbance at a home in Dillon, Sask. On March 22. When police arrived, they found two men with serious injuries. Police and EMS tried to save Lemaigre but he died from his injuries at the scene.

A second man at the scene was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later sent to a Saskatoon hospital for further treatment.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North and the Forensic Identification Section from North Battleford assisted with the investigation.

Dillon, which is a part of the Buffalo River Dene First Nations Band, is about 282 kilometres north of Prince Albert.

RCMP say they aren’t searching for any more suspects in connection to Lemaigre’s murder.

The matter was adjourned until June 4 to be spoken to. Bartholomew remains in custody.
