A Buffalo Narrows man charged with second-degree murder in the 2018 death of Jason Chartier had more court appearances.

Robert Young, 67, appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court March 17 and Feb. 17 with the matter being adjourned both times. Young is now scheduled to appear on April 14 in Buffalo Narrows Circuit Point, which remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic so the matter will be heard in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.

Young remains in custody since his arrest in January 2021.

Buffalo Narrows RCMP found Chartier’s body on Dec. 20, 2018, after getting a call about an injured and unconscious man in a shed behind a home in Buffalo Narrows. EMS declared Chartier, 42, deceased at the scene.

North Battleford and Regina RCMP Forensic Identification Services, as well as the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, assisted Buffalo Narrows RCMP in the two-year long investigation.

Buffalo Narrows is about 400 kilometres north of North Battleford.
