Citizens assist in arrest of drunk driver

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 30 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 1 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 2.


Tuesday


7:54 a.m. - 911 complaint of a disturbance at a home. 26-year-old man arrested on outstanding warrants from detachment and held for court Wednesday.


11:23 a.m. - 51-year-old man arrested for public intoxication after complaint of man stumbling and falling in an alley off 102nd Street.


12:06 p.m. - Reported sexual assault. Investigation ongoing.


1:13 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision on 111th Street. No injuries and minor damage to both vehicles.


1:38 p.m. - Reported theft of a grey 2004 BMW with Saskatchewan License 764IBZ from 101st Crescent.


2:01 p.m. - Damage to a fence in a back yard on 1600 block of 104th Street. 


3:11 p.m. - Report of youth on Carlton Trail causing a disturbance. Located, 13-year-old girl arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. Held in custody until her first appearance on Wednesday.


3:43 p.m. - 911 call of a vehicle striking a sign in the Frontier Mall Parking Lot. Vehicle then parked in lot and a very intoxicated man exited the vehicle. He was detained by witnesses and the keys removed from the vehicle to prevent him driving further. Members then arrested the 30-year-old man a short time later and he is facing charges of impaired driving and driving over .08.


4:12 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision on Pearson Avenue. No injuries and minor damage to property.


4:13 p.m. - Report of a theft of vehicle from six years ago. 


4:22 p.m. - Members dispatched a 1300 block of 103rd Street. A group of six to eight youth alleged to have used bear mace to assault several persons at a work site. Four persons were tracked to a residence a short distance away and arrested. As a result an 18-year-old man is facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Wednesday. Investigation shows that person walking by a work site got into a verbal argument with person at the work site, and returned a short time later with a group of persons, one of whom had a can of suspected bear spray and sprayed at least two persons. Both were treated by ambulance but were not hospitalized. Three other males ages 15, 17 and 41 were also arrested during the investigation have since been released without charges at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.


5:12 p.m. - Report of numerous youth under 12 years of age throwing eggs at vehicles on Territorial Drive. Several youth approximately 10-12 years of age located and apprehended. 


5:12 p.m. - Report of unwanted phone calls from a man who keeps calling complainant.


5:37 p.m. - Report of an unconscious man, possibly the victim of an assault on Trudeau Street. Man located and taken to hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries. A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene for assault. Victim later did not wish to co-operate with any investigation. 


7:39 p.m. - Damage to a homemade sign on St. Laurent Drive. 


9:05 p.m. - 15-year-old youth reported missing from a youth facility. Jonathan Gunville is described as thin, 5'5", 110 lbs, with blonde hair and blue eyes.


9:36 p.m. - Gas theft from a business on 100th Street. Suspects driving small silver car with Alberta License.


10:04 p.m. - Complaint of intoxicated persons causing problems at a home on 108th Street. Members attended and everyone was friendly again.


11:04 p.m. - Report of a disturbance on 800 block of 109th Street, people fighting outside a home, one person possibly armed. One man located a short distance away found to be extremely intoxicated, arrested and held until sober. Other man involved located at a residence a short distance away, suffering from minor facial injuries. Neither wished to have matter investigated.


Wednesday


2:00 a.m. - Incoming complaints of a man trying to get into vehicles on 99th Street. 33-year-old man was located on scene and arrested. Investigation ongoing.


3:29 a.m. - Unwanted intoxicated guests in a residence on Trudeau. Subject left prior to police arrival.
