Corrections to investigate circumstances of escape from psych centre

Correctional Service Canada has thanked the Saskatoon Police Service for apprehending inmate Kendal Lee Campeau, who escaped with Matthew Shaundel Michel, who remains at large.

CSC says it is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” said the Correctional Service Canada in a release Thursday morning.

Campeau was apprehended by the Saskatoon police force at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 14. The inmate had been unlawfully at large from the Regional Psychiatric Centre since Nov. 13.

Since the release of their statement, Matthew Shaundel Michel, 24 years old, has also been arrested by the RCMP.
