RCMP is giving crediting to the public for their help tracking down a suspect accused of attempting to pass counterfeit bills in the Battlefords.

On Wednesday afternoon, Battlefords RCMP reported they arrested a 64-year old male from North Battleford for trying to pass two $100 bills at a local business. According to Battlefords RCMP, charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.

It was noted that the bills that were seized by police consisted of the same serial number, and their colours were off.

Police have received several complaints as of late from from businesses encountering counterfeit Canadian currency. RCMP continue to caution the public to take a good look at the authenticity of all denominations of currency, especially those of large-denomination $50 and $100 bills.
