Death near Onion Lake deemed suspicious

On March 6 around 3:30 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP received a report of a deceased person located along a road approximately 35 kilometers northeast of Onion Lake Cree Nation.

On March 6 around 3:30 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP received a report of a deceased person located along a road approximately 35 kilometers northeast of Onion Lake Cree Nation.

As this location was in Loon Lake jurisdiction, Loon Lake RCMP responded to the scene along with RCMP Major Crime Unit North and North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Section.

The deceased person has been identified as 24-year-old David Jonas Tobac. His family has been notified of his death. He was the subject of a missing person release from Lloydminster RCMP on Feb. 29.

Based on investigation and an autopsy conducted on March 10, RCMP can confirm David Jonas Tobac’s death is suspicious in nature.

RCMP Major Crime Unit North continues to investigate.
