Fatal collision near Kindersley

RCMP in Kindersley are reporting a fatal collision has taken place in the Kindersley area. A 29-year lone male driver of a pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which happened around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

RCMP in Kindersley are reporting a fatal collision has taken place in the Kindersley area.

A 29-year lone male driver of a pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which happened around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

Members of Kindersley RCMP detachment assisted by the Kindersley Fire Department and Kindersley EMS responded to the scene, located two miles west of Kindersley on Highway 7.

According to the RCMP, their information through investigation indicates the eastbound semi unit collided head-on with the westbound pickup truck.

In addition to the fatality, the lone driver of the semi unit also from the Kindersley area was also injured. He was taken to hospital with what RCMP describes as serious but non life threatening injuries.

According to the RCMP, alcohol, road and weather conditions are not considered to be contributing factors and no hazardous spills were involved.

Highway 7 west of Kindersley was closed for several hours with traffic re-routed until 6 a.m. today. The road is now back open for traffic and the RCMP thanks the public for their assistance and understanding.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. RCMP said no charges have been laid at this time.
