On July 12, at approximately 5:25 p.m., officers from the Waskesiu Lake and Montreal Lake RCMP detachments were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover in Montreal Lake.

Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling south on Bird Avenue in the community when it lost control and subsequently rolled.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive adult male. Local medical staff also attended and the male driver, a 19 year old from Montreal Lake, was pronounced deceased.

Investigators had reason to believe that there was a second occupant in the vehicle at the time of the collision. An injured 17-year-old male, determined to have been the passenger, was located by police. He was taken to hospital in Prince Albert for treatment of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The family of the deceased has been notified. His name will not be released.

An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene and the collision is still under investigation.
