Fire causes power outage

An early morning fire on 111th Street in North Battleford resulted in a power outage, according to the North Battleford Fire Department Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 941 – 111th St. at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 941 – 111th St. at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday.

According to NBFD, the fire started in a half-ton truck and spread to a detached double garage. The truck was underneath power supply lines, leading the fire to cause a power outage for the block.

Crews were on scene for more than two hours to contain, control and extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to the garage area and truck with extensive damage to the building and its contents.

Two pumpers, three utility vehicles and 14 firefighters, including two chief officers were. on scene. RCMP, WPD and SaskPower supported the North Battleford Fire Department on scene.

A second minor incident was reported and dealt with by the fire department at the same time.
