Firearm discharged at residence

RCMP are investigating an incident of the careless discharge of a firearm.

On Monday at 10 p.m. Battlefords RCMP responded to a complaint at a residence located on Moosomin First Nation where the resident advised that an unknown person had shot at the residence.

RCMP say investigation revealed that the residence had damage consistent with bullets striking the outside of the structure and travelling through and into the structure and some evidence of bullet fragments was located in a wall inside the home.

No persons inside the residence at the time of this incident were injured, say RCMP.

Battlefords Forensic Identification Section attended to the residence and obtained evidence confirming that a large calibre firearm was discharged at the residence.

RCMP say investigators have made inquiries with other local residents and in doing so have obtained information regarding a vehicle that had been in the area on or about the time of this incident. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
