Four arrested by North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force released on bail

Four people arrested by the North Battleford Gang Task Force during a traffic stop have been released from custody.

Four people arrested by the North Battleford Gang Task Force during a traffic stop have been released from custody.

Rae Ahenakew, 40, and Shynia Skeavington, 24, both of Mosquito First Nation, along with Matthew Greer, 34, and Desiree Hinse, 24, from Biggar, were arrested Sept. 2.

According to Sgt. Adam Buckingham from the Battlefords General Investigation Section, the North Battleford Gang Task Force initiative a traffic stop on two vehicles they say police noticed the occupants appeared to be interacting with one another in a parking lot on Railway Avenue. Police didn’t specify what the interaction was but say one of the occupants was known to police and had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Police noticed weapons in one of the vehicles and arrested the occupants from the two vehicles. Police searched the vehicles and found a firearm, a Taser, weapons, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.

Ahenakew is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Oct. 26 for election and plea. Skeavington is scheduled to appear Oct. 5 for election and plea. Greer is scheduled to appear Oct. 5 to enter a plea. Hinse is scheduled to appear Oct. 19 to enter an election and plea and sentencing on other matters.
