Four people arrested in NB, facing drug and weapons charges

Four people have been arrested for drug and weapons offences following a traffic stop Sept. 2 on Railway Ave. by the North Battleford Gang Task Force.

Four people have been arrested for drug and weapons offences following a traffic stop Sept. 2 on Railway Ave. by the North Battleford Gang Task Force.

Charges have been laid against the following:

Rae Ahenakew, 40 years old is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possess of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and obstructing a police officer.

Shynia Skeavington, 24 years old is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of failing to comply with a release order condition, and two counts of possession of a weapon.

Matthew Greer, 34 years old of Biggar, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purposes contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

Desiree Hinse, 24 years old of Biggar, is charged with possession of cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon while prohibited, and obtructing a police officer.

All four accused are in custody and were to appear Sept. 3 in North Battleford Provincial Court.

According to police, the North Battleford Gang Task Force initiated a traffic stop on two vehicles that appeared to be interacting in a parking lot on Railway Avenue. Police say one of the occupants was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant.  During the traffic stop, weapons were noticed in one of the vehicles and the occupants were arrested. 

Police say that as a result of the investigation, all vehicle occupants were taken into custody and both vehicles were searched.  The search recovered quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and illicit marijuana. Police say a firearm, weapons, and a taser were also seized.
