The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a man from Saskatoon with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation that began in May 2020 of a person using multiple online accounts to share child pornography through a popular social media chat application.
On July 9, members of the Saskatchewan ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Saskatoon that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. No child pornography was located but a mobile phone was seized for further analysis. A forensic analysis of the mobile device located evidence of the offences.
On Oct. 5, Brandon Crowe, age 31, was arrested and has been charged with the following: possessing of child pornography (3 counts); distributing child pornography – (2 counts); make available child pornography (1 count).
He appeared in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Saskatoon on Oct. 5 and was released from custody on numerous conditions. He is scheduled to reappear on Oct. 21.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
