A Kindersley woman accused of killing her one-month-old daughter chose to be tried by judge alone without a jury in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench.
Teenie Rose Steer, 28, was arrested in February 2020 and charged with second-degree murder in connection to her daughter’s death 17 months earlier.
According to RCMP, they responded to a report of an infant in cardiac arrest on Sept. 27, 2018. EMS and hospital doctors attempted life-saving efforts but the infant died. Police say information from an autopsy led investigators to believe the baby’s death was suspicious and RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.
Steer, who has three other children, remains in custody at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre for women in Prince Albert.
No trial date has been set and Steer is on the Nov. 13 pre-trial list in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench.
