Police are encouraging anyone who has had their identification stolen to report it to their nearest police service or RCMP Detachment after arresting a man in Mortlach who had multiple stolen identifications.

Officers are currently working to identify and notify possible victims of Trevor Stross (81-12-04) from Edmonton, Alta.

Around 4 p.m. Feb. 22, a Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officer requested RCMP assistance with a vehicle stop on Highway 1 west of Caronport. The officer had stopped a blue Dodge Ram for a vehicle equipment violation (no mud flaps and a tinted license plate cover).

The adult male driver and lone occupant of the truck produced a driver’s license that didn’t appear authentic and the Alberta license plate did not match the vehicle registration.

While the initial investigation was being conducted, the driver drove away. Police followed the truck and the man exited the truck and entered a residence on Coteau Avenue in Mortlach. He was eventually arrested by RCMP without incident.

Further investigation has determined the truck was stolen from Edmonton, Alta. A search of the residence in Mortlach yielded multiple stolen identifications including driver’s licenses, SIN cards and vehicle registrations (primarily Alberta residents) as well as electronics.

Trevor Stross (81-12-04) from Edmonton, Alta., is charged with:2 counts, obstruction; flight from a peace officer; 6 counts, failure to comply with the conditions; contravention of storage regulations (firearm); possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; possession of a prohibited weapon; possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; 2 counts, possession of a prohibited firearm; 2 counts, possession of property obtained by crime; possession of methamphetamine; alter a vehicle identification number.

He appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court at 10 a.m. on Feb. 27. The next court date is March 4, at 9:30 a.m.
