A Meadow Lake woman pleaded guilty to weapons offences, robbery, mischief and obstruction of a peace officer.
Monica Bouvier, 24, is now scheduled to be sentenced in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 28.
She was arrested in April by the RCMP Emergency Response Team tactical unit after Meadow Lake RCMP received several calls about threats being made involving the use of firearms in the 200 block of 2nd Street West. At that house, police also arrested Cory Bouvier, 30, and charged him with weapons and robbery offences.
The RCMP ERT team was in Meadow Lake at the time to deal with a situation at another house when Meadow Lake RCMP got calls about threats involving the use of firearms. The RCMP ERT are a group of highly trained RCMP officers that use specialized weapons, equipment and tactics to resolve extremely high-risk situations. The ERT deals with extreme danger that can’t be easily resolved by general duty RCMP officers. ERT officers have access to more firearms than the standard-issue sidearm pistols regular RCMP officers have, including an MP5 submachine gun, sniper rifle, assault rifle, and shotguns.
At the first house, RCMP arrested Dillon Regan, 29, and charged him with firearms-related offences, uttering threats and breach of probation. He was released on bail in July. Police haven’t said whether or not the threats involving the use of firearms coming from the two houses only hours apart were related.
Cory Bouvier remains in custody. His first scheduled trial in July was derailed after witnesses failed to show up in court. His trial was rescheduled to Oct. 15 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court. He also has charges out of Prince Albert that are being dealt with in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
Regan appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 8. He elected to be tried by judge alone. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26 to speak to the matter.
