Two people have been charged with first degree murder, following a seven-month-long investigation into a suspicious death in Medstead. The two are already in custody on other charges.

On Nov. 27, 2020, Glaslyn/Turtleford RCMP responded to a report of a deceased male located near a grid road approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Glaslyn. The male was identified as 54-year-old Bradley John Ham, of the Prince Albert/North Battleford/Saskatoon area.

Jonathan Swiftwolfe and Cassandra Fox have each been charged with one count of first degree murder.

On July 5, Fox was arrested without incident at Pine Grove Correctional Centre. She appeared in court and her next appearance is in North Battleford on Aug. 5.

On July 7, Swiftwolfe was arrested without incident at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. He appeared in court and his next appearance is in North Battleford on July 9.

Fox and Jonathan Swiftwolfe were in custody after being arrested Dec. 6, 2020, when the Battlefords Gang Task Force, the Saskatchewan RCMP Crime Reduction Team and Battlefords RCMP pursued them in a high-speed chase with speeds up to 190-km an hour. Fox was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of stolen property. In a separate incident, she was also charged with allegedly spraying occupants of a vehicle with bear spray following an altercation at a business on Highway 16 in North Battleford on April 30, 2020.

Last month 27-year-old Swiftwolfe was sentenced to four years in prison for evading and fleeing from police, assault, uttering threats, dangerous driving and weapons-related offences.

The death was determined to be suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit South took over the investigation.
