On Sept. 27, 2018, Kindersley RCMP responded to a report of a one-month old female infant in cardiac arrest. Life saving efforts were made by responding EMS and doctors at the local hospital, but they were not successful and the infant was pronounced deceased.

On Sept. 28, 2018, an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death of the child. Information obtained during the autopsy lead investigators to believe the death was suspicious in nature. Therefore, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.

Yesterday, investigators arrested and charged a 28-year-old female, Teenie Rose Steer of Kindersley, with second-degree murder. The accused is the mother of the deceased child. Steer will make her first court appearance at 10 a.m. on Feb. 27 at Provincial Court in Rosetown.
