La Ronge RCMP along with Saskatchewan RCMP specialized units including Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services, Major Crimes Unit and North Battleford Police Dog Services are investigating an incident of shots fired that occurred Thursday in the Mikisiw residential area on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

Two adult males were located injured and transported to hospital by EMS. One of the males was pronounced deceased upon arrival and the second male was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Initial investigation leads police to believe this does not appear to be a random incident.

The residential area along Mikisiw Drive in Air Ronge continues to be blocked off for an undetermined amount of time. La Ronge RCMP would like to thank members of the community for giving police the space required to conduct a thorough investigation.

An autopsy for the deceased adult male will be conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service in Saskatoon on Nov. 22.

The investigation is ongoing.

This story has been updated to correct the location from Air Ronge to the Mikisiw area of  Lac La Ronge Indian Band as per RCMP information.
