Onion Lake woman charged with murder appears in Lloydminster court

Police still investigating, encourage anyone with information to come forward.

A woman charged with the murder of an Onion Lake Cree Nation man had another court appearance.

Shari Heathen, 27, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, had an appearance scheduled in Lloydminster Provincial Court July 30 but the matter was adjourned.

Heathen was arrested in Prince Albert on July 16, 2020, after a lengthy investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North. She was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of Braeden Alfred James Sparvier. His body was found on Jan. 1, 2020, in the R.M. of Frenchman Butte.

RCMP say the investigation into Sparvier’s death is ongoing and they encourage anyone with information to call Turtleford RCMP at 306-845-4520. Heathen is now scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Aug. 20 to speak to the matter.
