There may be a resolution in the case against two men charged with the murder of Braden Richard Bull.

Lawyers for 24-year-old Vega Bear and 26-year-old Branden Dillon told the Lloydminster Provincial Court on June 2 that there may be a joint submission between the Crown and defence. Brian Pfefferle represents Bear and Kathy Hodgson-Smith represents Dillon.

Bear and Dillon are charged with second-degree murder for the January 2020 murder of Bull who was last seen Jan. 7, 2020. His body was found near a highway on Onion Lake Cree Nation Jan. 21, 2020.

Bear and Dillon are expected to appear next in court on July 7. The charges against them haven’t been proven in court.

Bulls’ murder is one of three murders in approximately two months that prompted Onion Lake Cree Nation to declare a state of emergency in January 2020 after the Nation experienced increased drug and gang-related activity.

Onion Lake Cree Nation borders the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan and is located about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster.
