Prince Albert man remains in custody on weapons, drug-related charges

A bail hearing for a man charged with drug trafficking and weapons-related offences was adjourned. Kevin Ackegan, 40, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court again on April 21. He has been in custody since his arrest Feb.

A bail hearing for a man charged with drug trafficking and weapons-related offences was adjourned.

Kevin Ackegan, 40, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court again on April 21. He has been in custody since his arrest Feb. 26 after police charged him during a traffic stop. When they searched his vehicle they found Canadian, U.S. and Jamaican currency, as well as two firearms, ammunition, a machete, bear spray, a knife, hydromorphone, methamphetamine, and Gabapentin pills.

Police also arrested a 33-year-old woman and charged her with possession of a controlled substance.

Ackegan is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court May 1 via CCTV for a show cause hearing.
