On Oct. 16 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Pinehouse Lake RCMP was informed that 29-year-old Travis Tyler Smith had escaped custody.
Smith was suspected to have left the Besnard Lake Correctional Facility at around 2:10 p.m. on Oct. 16. It is unknown in which direction Smith headed after leaving the facility, but he does have ties to Montreal Lake and Weyakwin.
Travis Smith is described as being approximately 6’0 tall, 205 lbs, with black hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos. Some of his tattoos include: ‘#5’ on his left hand; a skull and cross on his right forearm; a skull with a ribbon on his left chest area; and the word ‘mom’ and a cross on the right side of his neck.
At the time he left the facility, Smith was wearing grey sweatpants, a dark long sleeve shirt, a plaid jacket, and a black Nike hat.
Investigators believe Smith can be dangerous and advise he is not to be approached.
